Black Writer’s Weekend is the largest community-driven festival for Black creatives and filmmakers. This event is dedicated to celebrating and honoring Black literary creatives in publishing and film. This year, the festival will consist of three events in one weekend: Cre8tiveCon, Lit Crawl, and the AAMBC Literary Awards. ID104 Radio had the esteemed to cover the AAMBC Literary Awards.

This documentary features a star-studded cast that includes Nzinga Imani (BET’s Zatima and Sistas), Gwendolyn DeVoe (Full Figured Fashion Week), Akira Armstrong (celebrity dancer and choreographer), and many more influential women who are leading the plus-size fashion movement. Plus-size designer LaQuinta Davis, the producer of Fat Is Fashion, is passionate about telling stories from a perspective that resonates with plus-size women.

Black Media Honors 2023 Tashyra Ayers is a marketing and Public Relations (PR) executive with over 15 years of experience in serving the corporate, healthcare, and entertainment industries. Tashyra’s purpose projects include the creation of the annual Mother’s Day Brunch honoring single and teen Mothers. During the annual event, Tashyra partners with community organizations and schools to present teen moms with college scholarships and laptops. The brunch has also recognized over a dozen women with ‘Mom of the Year’ Awards, and presented $10,000 in scholarships and equipment to Moms in just two years.
